Exciting times!

I’ll cut right to the chase. This is my new logo and watermark for Save The Journey. I am so delighted with it! Especially because it does have a background story and a special meaning to me. The inspiration for this logo came from the following photo I took several years ago.

This photo was taken at Muizenberg beach in Cape Town. It’s a beach that is very close to my heart. Why? I’ll explain soon in a separate post. I have so many photos to share of it. I never understood why certain photographers keep coming back to photograph the same place over and over for years, but then I realized I do the same thing with Muizenberg. I have photographed this beach with digital cameras, with analog film, in colour, in black and white... This beach always calls me back. So I make sure to photograph it a little more every time I’m back in South Africa. I love this beach and the surrounding bays and area.

But back to the logo! I really like the feeling of adventure that this photo and logo portray. The excitement of running to the beach with your best buddy; your dog. Energy and movement is a really important element that I try to incorporate in the photographs I take. So naturally, it was important for my photography logo too.
It’s also a nice visual representation of my freelancing name ‘Save The Journey’. We are all, after all, on our own journeys, and it’s important to not always be solely focused on the goal but take our time to look around and appreciate what we have around us currently.

I decided to also push the envelope a little, and try something a bit more unique. I’m really chuffed that my photos will wear this new branding that is also more personal than my previous logo. Although it has served me very well over the years too. But it’s time to ditch the lower case letters, and be bolder in the coming years.

This older version has served me well, so long buddy!

In this bizarre time, it is incredibly refreshing to have a bit of positive news that’s looking forward in my world of photography, instead of being retrospective like the rest of my blog in the last year! I’m excited to have this branding for my upcoming photo shoots, when I will be able to do some wedding photography or even some event photography again. And we can all enjoy being together in groups and enjoy our festivities! Maybe by then everyone has had the opportunity to have a haircut and is looking like their normal selves again!

Till then, you will have to make do with me doing my best, sitting in Cork city and being retrospective in these blog posts!
