One of my most popular photography packages are the outdoor newborn baby photo shoots. I think parents just appreciate the more relaxed shooting style and the colourful photos. But I do also offer at home shoots. Sometimes it’s because of the rain or the cold weather in certain seasons of the year, or some parents just prefer to be in the comfort of their own home. If it’s indoors, I bring my professional lighting equipment and we’re able to get some beautiful shots, like this shoot or this shoot.
But Elaine had something else in store. Elaine had booked me for an at home baby shoot but not because of bad weather or any of the typical reasons. No, she wanted to include her pets. Not an unusual request whatsoever. I’ve for instance captured this baby shoot with their dog and even did a big dog studio shoot with six dogs.
But no, this one was different because Elaine wanted to include, not only her two dogs, but her two horses as well! She’s owned the horses for over a decade and they are extremely special to her. So special in fact that she wanted to include them in Elaine and Michael’s wedding photos. Unfortunately that didn’t work out, so she wanted to make up for it with the family photo shoot.
My first time photographing horses.
It’s fun to be challenged with something new. Sometimes families request a new location that I’ve never gone to before, or request a type of shoot that’s a little outside of my comfort zone at first, or they include animals I’ve had very little contact with in my life! So that's another thing to add to my list of experiences! Haha! After some re-assurances and guidelines on how to behave around the horses, I set them all up as the sun was setting to get these striking group photos.
I love how these images came out, they are so unique and full of energy and life. I’m sure Isabelle is going to grow up in a very loving home with all of the friendly dogs and horses about.
If you would like to book me for a baby shoot, you can contact me here for pricing and availability. I’d be happy to do a shoot with you even if your party is purely human.
