Róisín - Newborn Baby Photography Cork by Jan

Bringing the Family Together

For some families it’s rare for every family member to be in the same country, nevermind the same city. So it’s great to capture those moments while they there.

This was the exact case of Amanda and Eoin, who are lucky enough to have little Róisín enter their lives. I always find it exciting when I’m photographing newborn babies, how I’m not just capturing the start of a new life but also the start of a new family. This is such a monumental moment in their lives!

With Amanda originating from America, she was lucky enough to have her mom come visit. And with a large portion of the family together, I was able to capture these gorgeous family portraits with their newborn baby.

Everyone was so smitten with Róisín, don’t you think? These are some of my favourite family portraits I have taken this year. Aren’t they just adorable?

Family Group Photos at Shalom Park, Cork

Since it was still winter, the plan was to take these one on one portrait photos in the warm apartment, as well as the close up newborn baby photos of Róisín in the cot. We then headed down the road to Shalom Park, right in the centre of Cork city. We wrapped Róisín up nicely in the blanket so she wouldn’t be cold, and then did the posed family group portrait photos to round off this newborn baby shoot.

That’s a whole bunch of keepers for each individual family member. With this extended family photo shoot, each family member got a one on one portrait photo with Róisín, while also be included in the group photos.

If you would like to have a similar newborn baby photo shoot with or without an additional family photo shoot, you can contact me here for availability. I do a lot of photo shoots in Cork city, but am happy to travel further outside the city and into the rest of Cork county as well.

And remember, besides newborn baby photography, I also photograph the following:

The Kearneys - Family Portrait Photography Cork by Jan

It was just before Christmas, so you can see the Christmas decoration in the background in some of the photos. Well, Mairead asked me to come over to take a whole slew of family portraits of her, her three children and her husband.

This wasn’t just a regular family portrait shoot. We also added some fun and candid shots, did a newborn baby photo shoot and a couple photo shoot of mom and dad in their garden, with the hills on the horizon.

Beautiful Cork Nature

We did the family photo shoot at their house in the Cork countryside. You can see the green all around.

This family portrait session was scheduled for the afternoon, and with the house having such wonderfully big windows, we were treated to some lovely golden sunshine from the sunset! Cork weather doesn’t treat us very often but when it does, it really goes all out!

We got this gorgeous glow for such a large portion of the shoot!

Posed Family Photos

Besides the candid and fun shots, we also took some posed family photos in front of the Christmas tree. Different variations are important to do! So, dad with the kids, mom with girls. You get the drill.

Couples Photography

And to top it all off, a quick dash out into the crisp, Cork winter air, to do that couples photo shoot!

What kind of family photography package is this?

This is a perfect example of my top-end family portrait group package that I like to offer. It’s a little bit like a Bento box or a spice bag from your favourite Cork chipper. A little bit of everything.

So you get:

• the full family portrait package, which consists of the candid photo shoot and the posed group photos

• a mini newborn photography photo shoot for the baby of the family

• and a mini couples photo shoot for the parents

That’s a lot of shots you wouldn’t necessarily get a photographer for at every occasion, but to combine the three of them in one day is a handy way to fill those family photo albums and capture some lovely memories!

Another example of this triple family package is ‘The Morgans’ who ended up choosing the family portraits, newborn baby photography and school portraits of their children, which they had missed at their school. So we were able to catch up on them.

So if you’d like to have this family portrait package as well, or would just like one of the three options, then contact me here. I look forward to hearing from you!

Dáithí – Professional Newborn Photographer Cork by Jan

Professional Newborn Baby Photographer Cork

This is little Dáithí. Isn’t he an absolute cutie?! There’s no coincidence that he got a sunshine graphic on the title of this blog post, because he’s truly a ball of sunshine! Plus, he was a great model and happens to be very handsome in his outfit.

The thing with newborn baby photography, is that you have to be prepared for everything and not rush things. These photos were taken on a brisk January day. It’s way too cold on this particular day to do a family portrait shoot outdoors, like I often do. The Cork weather just wasn’t having it.

This is why I came fully prepared with my lighting set up! I have different lights and soft boxes depending on the type of shoot. The one I brought on this day, is specifically for newborn baby photography and nothing else. It does for some beautiful light, doesn’t it? It also makes it really easy because it allows me to photograph in any room, in any part of the house.

I loved taking these close up shots of Dáithí in his crib. The minor interactions with the parents; the touches the gazes, holding of the tiny feet (always a great shot!). It’s those moments that are really sweet to capture. He really performed well as a model and was a portrait photographer’s dream.

Next up was the family portrait shoot, where I took portrait photos of each parent together with Dáithí, plus all three together. With Dáithí getting a little overwhelmed at times and needing a diaper change, we alternated rooms to cheer him up and distract him, getting a positive vibe going again. David, the dad, did an especially great job with this!

Some of these family portrait photos almost look like they were photographed outdoors, but that’s thanks to Brid and David owning a beautiful house in the countryside with very large windows. It’s always nice when we’re blessed with some gorgeous sunshine like this. It makes the photos feel very airy.

Brid and David now have some wonderful baby and family portraits that Dáithí will one day be able to reflect upon himself.

I was very happy with how the photo shoot went and the baby photos I was able to capture, and Brid definitely agreed. She left me such a lovely 5 star Google review that I wanted to share here as well:

“What can I say about Jan and his Photography, without a doubt he deserves 5 stars, he was amazing, he was so calm, patient and professional.

The pictures are beautiful and he captured our beautiful baby boy Dáithí perfectly. Even Mum and Dad look good too. I will definitely be recommending Jan to my friends and family. We will definitely use Jan again when we need professional photos. Thank you so much Jan.”
